The institute conducts the Pre Sea General purpose rating course duly approved by the DG Shipping, Govt. of India at its campus in New Delhi. The course DG Sipping, Govt. of India. The course is fully residential, regimental and disciplined.

Course Commenced on : 01st January and 01st July.

Duration of the course : 25 weeks.

Education Qualification

Minimum pass class 10th and or its equivalent with English, Mathematics and Science as subject. And over all minimum 40% marks in class 10th and 40% marks in English in class 10th or 12th.

Medical fitness

(a) Both eyes 6/6 with no aids. No colour blindness.

(b) No deformity in body. Fitness certificate as per MS Rules by a DG Shipping approved doctor.

Knowledge of English language: The aspirant/applicant should able to read, write, understand and speak English.

Knowledge of computer : Must have the basic knowledge of computer.

Course fees : The institute charges a total Rs 2,25,000/ (Rupees two lacs twenty five thousand only) and the fees includes :

(a) Hostel and food

(b) Uniforms as specialized in the DG Shipping guidelines

(c) STCW 2010 courses including basic training in Oil and chemical Tanker Cargo Operation (OCTO)and Security Training to Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (STSDSD) courses.

(d) All Study material, books, registers and note books.

(e) Ship visit in a second class sleeper coach train (Indian Railways)

(f) Cost of Indian CDC and INDoS No.

(g) Cost of all internal assessments, monthly tests, unit tests, review tests and All India Exit Exam conducted by the Board of Examination for Seafarers, Mumbai.

Method of selection

The original Board mark sheet and certificates as per the above criteria are verified.

An in house written test is conducted on reporting for admission. No any kind of fees is charged for the test from the applicant. The test is conducted only to assess the present standard of the students and no admission is denied to the applicant.

All eligible candidates can also be directly admitted by conducting an oral interview and by verifying the Original academic certificates in case Sponsored by a Shipping Company/RPS License.

Submission of Medical reports

All candidates to complete their Medical fitness test by a DG Shipping approved doctor and submit prior to commencement of the course. Medically unfit students are barred from attending the course and refunds in full are done.

Deposit of course fees

All candidates are advised to submit a part payment of course fees to confirm their Registration however the registration does not mean confirmed admission in the course. Joining letters and instruction are issued to the registered applicants and in case they are not able to reach in institute on the allotted time for admission, the seat are allotted to the students registered as Wait listed.

These Registered students will deposit the balance of their remaining course fees at the time of Reporting for course as advised in Joining instructions. Course fees can also be deposited in two equal installments .

Special Discounts

Rs 15,000/- (rupees fifteen thousand only) discount is granted to the son of Widows and serving/retired Naval/Coast Guard personnel.

Special Note

Fees can be directly deposit in the institute account and the receipt can be presented at the time of counseling/reporting for the course. Demand draft and Local cheques are excepted. The demand draft/cheque be drawn in favor of "Sriram Institute of Marine Studies" Payable at New Delhi. No fees is taken in cash.
